European Code 4.1 to good practice for the industrial manufacturing of safe feed materials (applicable as of 30 June 2024)

The European Code to good practice for the Industrial manufacturing of safe feed ingredients is a public document and its content is freely available to any feed materials operators.

The EFISC-GTP feed & Food safety management system consists of the following documents:

• European Code to good practice for the industrial manufacture of safe feed ingredients
• Use of Information and communication technology (ICT) in EFISC-GTP standard
• The Rules of certifications (for scope D)
• Sector specific documents (products, hazards, processes, risk assessments and control measures)

The sector specific documents are an integral part of the EFISC-GTP feed safety system, developed by the responsible European feed materials producing sector organisations in cooperation with the EFISC-GTP Technical Committee. The sector specific documents applicable to industrial manufacturing are:

• sector reference document on starch processing   
• sector reference document on oil and oilseed processing
• sector reference document on the manufacturing of safe feed ingredients from biodiesel processing
• sector reference document on malt processing

Running side by side, a parallel and independent certification system is in place as described in the Rules for Certification.

As of 30.06.2024, version 4.1 of the EFISC-GTP Rules of Certification is applicable. Certification bodies and companies can find useful information on the transition from version 4.0 to 4.1 in this document.

 - Publication of the new European Code to good practice for the Industrial manufacturing of safe feed ingredients:  

   15 April 2024

- Deadline for companies to achieve certification against the new code of EFISC-GTP (for Industrial processing):  

   30 June 2025
