EFISC is pleased to announce that Cargill Manchester in the United Kingdom has been certified in compliance with the EFISC requirements. Cargill has been operating in Manchester since 2002 and employs around 300 people. The Manchester site houses its UK sweeteners and industrial starches. In addition to the food sector, the Manchester plant also serves the needs of the farming and aquaculture sectors with animal feed products and vital wheat gluten.

“We are very pleased to have gained the EFISC certification as it is further demonstration of our commitment to produce safe feed materials for the UK and European markets” Andy Holloway, Cargill Quality Manager, said. The EFISC requirements for the management system, prerequisite programme and HACCP implementation combined with third party certification provides a solid feed safety assurance system. A major advantage are the EFISC sector documents, made by the best experts in the feed working groups of the EU sector organisations, providing guidance to the operator on the products, hazards, processes and flowcharts, risk assessment methodology, legislation, rejection limits and control measures.

EFISC certified manufacturers can be found all over Europe manufacturing together over 18 million tons of feed materials representing about 40 % of all EU processed single feed materials. The EFISC feed safety assurance scheme was developed as a result of the shared commitment between the starch industry (AAF) and the oilseed crushing, oil refining and protein meal industry (FEDIOL) within the framework of the European Feed Ingredients Platform (EFIP), which provides a harmonised, voluntary feed safety assurance scheme for the feed materials industry in the EU.
