The European Feed Ingredient Safety Certification Aisbl (EFISC), in cooperation with the European Commission's DG SANTE, is pleased to announce the translation of the new version of the European Guide to good practice for the industrial manufacture of safe feed materials in all EU languages. The Guide, sector specific documents*, Salmonella factsheet and Salmonella auditor checklist are now available in Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.
This new version of the European Guide was endorsed by the European Commission and Member States in November 2014. It offers guidance to the operator for the manufacturing of safe feed materials and to the official control authorities, addressing amongst others, management, PRP programs, HACCP, monitoring, traceability, incident management and sector specific risk assessments by product, process and hazard.
The European Commission's DG SANTE believes that the translation of the Guide is a considerable step towards a better understanding and harmonised implementation of the feed hygiene package by the EU feed material operators and recommend its use EU wide. The translations are available on the website of the European Commission's DG SANTE as well as the website of EFISC.
The European Guide was developed by the European starch industry (Starch Europe), the European vegetable oil and protein meal industry (FEDIOL) and the European Biodiesel Board (EBB) under the umbrella of the European Feed Ingredients Safety Certification (EFISC), following the call in the feed hygiene package to develop European sector guidance documents for feed safety. Participation in this sector guide is voluntary and open to other feed material producing sectors to join. *The translation of the sector document for the vegetable oil and protein meal industry is still on its way.
